The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA), one of AH’s legacy client partners, recently helped host a Car Seat Check with local first responder agencies in Washington, DC.

JPMA is one of the client partners that engages AH’s service of legislative and regulatory affairs. Staff members located in DC are dedicated to assisting with all of JPMA’s governmental needs, a service offered via the Co-Chair Solutions division of AH.

From the moment an individual finds out that they are going to be a parent, they are consumed with overwhelming emotions. One of the most important jobs that parents and caregivers have is to keep their child(ren) safe. Each year thousands of young children are killed or injured in car crashes. Proper use and selection of car seats help keep children safe.

It can be difficult and overwhelming to know which car seat is the best for each family and installing it can be even more difficult. JPMA and several of its partners assisted with this challenge recently by hosting a Car Seat Check in Washington, DC.

On July 28, JPMA, in partnership with The United States Capitol Hill Police Department and the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department, hosted its first consumer car seat check on Capitol Hill. Organized as a consumer advocacy and outreach program, more than half of JPMA CRS member manufacturers sent Certified Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) to assist in performing car seat inspections and installations, and provide education to area residents.

In addition, many of the CRS member manufacturers provided car seats to consumers in the event that a car seat needed to be replaced for any reason. The four-hour event was held on one of the hottest days in July, but that did not deter residents from taking advantage of the free safety service. In total, the group inspected and installed 47 seats, replacing only four.
