When you come back from a conference, whether it be your organization's annual conference, a board meeting, or a learning experience for a software you regularly use, presenting the information you learned can be a challenge. Here are a few ways (aside from writing a traditional report) that might make it easier to get all of that valuable information into the hands of your colleagues so you can start sharing ideas and knowledge.
Blog
Post a blog about your experience. Pick a session that really resonates with you or your organization and write about how you will be able to apply your new-found knowledge to benefit your organization. For example, read this blog from AH MarCom Coordinator Megan Ptaszenski about her experience this summer during an industry conference. You can use your voice in a blog which makes it more personable than a white paper.
Infographic
Are you more of a visual person? Maybe you're in the creative field? Outline your notes and highlight the key takeaways in an infographic. Make sure that your ideas flow into one another and upload your graphic to Pinterest to share with your colleagues. An infographic is a great presentation prop as well. Print it on foam board or display it on an extra-large monitor and walk through your points with your team.
Slide Deck
I recently attended an Inbound Marketing conference and sat in on numerous educational sessions that included slide deck presentations with both text and visuals. I have always felt that a slide deck is the most effective way to deliver information in a presentation format. Each slide can display a main point and your presentation can elaborate on that point, allowing your audience to take notes and follow along. You can also record yourself giving the presentation and navigating the slides and turn it into an on-demand webinar to access at anytime.
Do you have interesting and effective ways of delivering information to your team after a conference? Let me know in the comments! I'm always looking for more ideas.
