How many of us lead with our strengths? The obvious answer, and hopefully truthful, is that we all do.

In a recent article author Jon Gordon stressed the importance of leading with your strengths, both personally and professionally. He referenced that the great coach Vince Lombardi ran one play – the power sweep – and was able to win five championships including the first two Super Bowls with that play.

Most likely as part of our annual planning process we will include some type of SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) discussion so that as an organization we all agree where we stand, and know where we need to concentrate our resources moving forward.

As Gordon points out, in identifying our strengths we need to be conscious of being focused and not try and be all things to all people. We need to capitalize on our strengths, but be sure that we are using those strengths in a focused way to best satisfy the needs of our customers.

As a professional services firm it is the goal of our staff to be world class in providing an outstanding customer experience. Our team “gets it” and is able to deliver on our strength in working with our non-profit clients to first identify a need/pain, and then working with volunteers to develop a solution.

We know we are strong in identifying the need, and then are able to use our years of experience and knowledge in helping to develop a solution that is results-based.

AH recently received our Certified Customer Service Organization designation from the Customer Service Institute of America (CSIA), being the first company of our kind to receive this designation worldwide.  Certainly this designation is an honor, but in achieving this certification we were able to identify how we leverage our strengths to deliver on our promise of providing world class customer service, and the beneficiaries of this are our clients.

Having an experienced and talented staff has allowed us to have more than “one play” in our play book, and ensure that we are leveraging our strengths in a focused way to be a true partner to our clients.
