MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. – June 19, 2012 — Association Headquarters (AH), a licensee of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) University Certificate Program in Association Management, recently awarded certificates to 13 association professionals. This group marks the first in the world to complete the program.
ASAE has developed the Certificate Program to help association professionals build the competencies they need to manage their organization more effectively. The program is designed for association employees who are new to the profession with less than 5 years of experience or others who are not eligible to receive their Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification. This could include executive directors who came to their association from within their industry or executive directors from for-profit associations.
“The uniqueness of this program is that it focuses on member-based trade associations and professional societies,” said Sue Pine, CAE, who oversees the program on behalf of AH. “It provides individuals with a strong foundation of critical association management information to enhance their ability to contribute to their association’s success.”
The program consists of five 1-day courses providing attendees with 27.5 total continuing education hours that can later be applied toward the 100 hours required when applying for the CAE certification, should they choose to pursue.
Thirteen individuals from AH have completed all five courses and earned their Certificate in Association Management from ASAE University, with 82 others completing the first course and 56 completing additional courses.
Pine, who has worked in association management for over 30 years, feels that this course will prove beneficial to new association professionals. “It often takes a while for new hires to understand all facets of association management and this program will help them build a strong foundation,” she said.
