MT. LAUREL, N.J. – November 4, 2014 — Association Headquarters (AH) hosted a 2-day leadership forum last week, inviting its client partners to gain knowledge, perspective, and insight into issues they face as leaders on volunteer boards.

“This forum provides our client partner leaders with the opportunity to examine industry trends, changes, and issues, while maximizing their collaborative opportunities,” said AH CEO Bob Waller, Jr., CAE. “Leaders are able to apply these innovative ideas directly to their organizations and provide them with tools to assist in leading their fellow board members and committee chairs into the future by understanding how to measure member engagement and determine what truly is valuable to the membership.”

Industry speakers provided insight on leadership styles and methods along with valuable association trends, highlighting areas that all volunteer leaders can utilize within their own organizations. The speakers include:

• Leigh Wintz, FASAE, CAE of Tecker International
• Greg Melia, CAE, of ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership
• Sue Pine, CAE of AH

An evening reception featured the first Red Chair Awards Ceremony, a program designed to celebrate measurable success achieved by client partners throughout the year. Each award recognized an accomplishment that is related to one of the AH pillars: Multi-dimensional Growth, Engaged and Disciplined Leadership, Intelligent Use of Technology, and an Unwavering Commitment to Mission. The 2014 winners were chosen by a third party panel of judges from applications submitted by the association’s executive directors.

• Multi-Dimensional Growth — NADCA, The HVAC Inspection, Maintenance and Restoration Association, was chosen for showing growth in membership meeting attendance, non-dues revenue, and for developing a strong public presence.
• Engaged and Disciplined Leadership — The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society™ (WOCN®), was selected after leadership made the decision to transition the majority of the committee work to task forces in order to efficiently complete more tasks.
• Intelligent Use of Technology — National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS), was honored after it launched its first virtual conference. The 2014 Virtual Conference was such a success that the organization will be holding another one in 2015, offering complementary registration in honor of its 25th Anniversary celebration.
• Unwavering Commitment to Mission — The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA), was named the winner of this award after developing a consumer-facing platform, The Baby Safety Zone. The comprehensive and complete forum provides parents and caregivers with up-to-date and important safety information along with the opportunity to both share experiences and ask questions in a public format.
